Who Would Want to Cure It?
Orchids, beautiful mysterious and alluring. I am obsessed with orchids and the obsession is wonderful. With today’s large selection of inexpensive plants, what was once a rich man’s pleasure is now a hobby available to anyone.
I walked into my first orchid house over 30 years ago. And after all those years, many working in greenhouses, I still feel great pleasure walking into any greenhouse today. But an orchid house is special making me feel both calmed and excited at the same time. This is truly one of the great pleasures of orchid growing.
Enough waxing and waning about the pleasures of the orchid. What’s here for you?
A whole section on orchid care starting with a cheeky article on orchid care in general followed by many pages, each on a specific genus of orchids. Then there is the orchid care section with pages on several problems that plague orchid growers including the worst one of all, overwatering.
Want more? OK. Learn the secret lives of that strange group of hobbyists that run around with a toothpick in their hand having sex with orchids. A one-word description of the problem would be, hybridizer. I am sure you can think of others.
Find out about wild orchids (no, no about orchids in the wild, where do you get these thoughts). And learn why collecting is a no-no these days. What is a rare orchid? Tough question.
I have decided to keep the website up as an informational site only at this time. For those of you that have been here before I hope you like the new look of the site. Please send your comments in and let me know what you like or don’t like about the site. What would you like to see that is missing?
Also several great people have sent in articles that will be added to the site. Thanks again for your patience.
